Error Variable
'ADMINOWNER' not found
I upgraded my
ProGAGE1 for Windows and get Variable 'ADMINOWNER' not found Cancel
or Ignore message. I click Cancel and get thrown out of the program.
If I click Ignore I’m allowed into ProGAGE1 for Windows and everything
seems to work fine.
CAUSE:
ProGAGE1 for Windows opening or reading Sec.dbf & Sec.cdx
files from an older version of ProGAGE1 for Windows. What has probably
happened is during the Updating ProGAGE1 Ver. 1.xx to Ver.2.xx someone
copied the old Sec.dbf & Sec.cdx files from the older version
of ProGAGE1 into either the \PGWIN2 directory/folder or into the
\PGWIN2\DBFS directory or folder.
SOLUTION:
Make sure all copies of ProGAGE1 for Windows are closed. Open Windows
Explorer. On the left side of your screen locate and double click
on the PGWIN2 directory/folder (Unless installed under different
folder name). This should open the folder and two (2) sub directories/folders
will appear DBFS & REPORTS. On the right hand side of your screen
locate and delete any Sec.dbf and Sec.cdx files. Close out or minimize
Explorer. Click on Start then Programs, then ProGAGE1 V2, then Reset
User Count. On the Reset User Count Screen click on Reset. This
will delete any old *.tmp files and eliminate the Too Many User’s
Online message. Double click on the ProGAGE1 V2 Icon, this should
allow you into the software. If so be advised that you will have
to recreate all security rights to the various user’s of the software
or re-import your old records again as outlined below.
Re-Importing
old Security files into current release
Failure
to follow these steps precisely will result in loss of any new or
changed records since initial import.
1. In Windows
Explorer double click on the \PGWIN2 directory/folder.
2. Double click
on the \PGWIN2\DBFS directory/folder.
3. On the right
hand side delete the Sec.dbf & Sec.cdx files.
4. With mouse
on the hi-lighted or opened \PGWIN2\DBFS directory/folder right
click your mouse and select Rename. Rename folder to BACKDBFS. This
will be your back-up copy of all current records except for the
Security files.
5. Place ProGAGE1
for Windows Program Diskette #1 into floppy drive.
6. Click on
Start, then Run, type a:\setup.exe and run installation software.
When prompted by the installation routine select Only Install Database
Files (deselect any of the other installation components) and continue
with the installation of the empty database files.
7. After completing
the installation process you will have to re-import the old records
into the new version of ProGAGE1.
8. However,
you must verify that the Sec.dbf & Sec.cdx files from the older
version of the software are in the old program data directory (typically
\PGWIN\DBFS). Do this with Windows explorer. Select and move any
copies of sec.dbf & sec.cdx from the \PGWIN directory/folder
to the \PGWIN\DBFS directory/folder. Overwrite or replace any sec.dbf
& Sec.cdx files found in the \PGWIN\DBFS directory/folder. After
moving (or copying) the Sec.dbf & Sec.cdx files, double-check
the \PGWIN directory or folder. There shouldn't be any Sec.dbf or
Sec.cdx files in this directory. This must be done prior to reinstalling
the new database files.
9. Click on
Start, then Programs, then ProGAGE1 V2, and then Copy Database from
Ver. 1.x
10. At the Update
from v. 1.xx to 2.0 screen click on the Change Button for the Old
Tables Line. Navigate to the old ProGAGE1 for Windows Program (typically
\PGWIN) double click on the PGWIN directory/folder. Double click
on the DBFS folder then choose the select button.
Old Tables should
read:
\PGWIN\DBFS\
New tables should
read:
\PGWIN2\DBFS\
11. Click on
Import. Once data is imported open Windows Explorer double click
on the \PGWIN2 directory/folder. Double click on or open the \PGWIN2\BACKDBFS\
directory/folder. Make sure there are no copies of the Sec.dbf &
Sec.cdx files in this directory/folder, if so delete them.
12. In the upper
left-hand corner of your screen, click on the Edit pull down menu
and choose Select All. Select Edit, then Copy (or Ctrl C). Double
click on the \PGWIN2\DBFS directory/folder. Select Edit, then Paste.
Choose Yes to All when prompted.
13. From your
Windows Desktop click on Start, then Programs, then ProGAGE1 V2,
then Reset User Count. Click on the Reset Button, this will delete
any *.tmp files in your \PGWIN2 program directory/folder.
14. After restoring
existing data files, Run the software and log in when prompted.

Program Error
- Syntax Error
I've recently
upgraded my ProGAGE1 for Windows, imported my data and everything
appears to be there. However I get this Syntax Error message whenever
I click on Close from the Gage Master, Calibration, Gage R&R,
or Usage Screens. If I click Cancel it throws me out of the program.
If I click Ignore in returns me to the Main Menu.
CAUSE:
During the importing of your old Windows files from Ver. 1.x, you
received an Error Message Sec.dbf file not found Cancel or Ignore
Message and clicked on Cancel. By clicking on Cancel, several of
your older data files were not imported into the new software. These
files are as follows:
Settings data,
Skip Days data, Calibration Standards data, Calibration Measurements
data, Gage R&R data, Tables data files, Units Data (for Conversion
Module), Issue / Return data, User Counter data and Utility Database
data.
SOLUTION
#1: If all above files are intact and converted data from older
version of the software has been imported and verified as correct.
Then verify the following:
From the Main
Menu of ProGAGE1 for Windows, Click on the Utilities Menu. Click
on the Settings Button. ProGAGE1 for Windows is Bar Code compatible;
therefore the Bar Code Hot Key field must have CTRL+B typed into
it. This will eliminate the Syntax Error Message.
If any of the
above mentioned files are missing converted data from a previous
version of ProGAGE1 for Windows then follow Solution #2 as outlined
below.
SOLUTION
#2: Make sure all copies of ProGAGE1 for Windows are closed
or exited. Open Windows Explorer. On the left side of your screen
locate and double click on the PGWIN2 directory/folder (Unless installed
under different folder name). This should open the folder and two
(2) sub directories/folders will appear DBFS & REPORTS.
On the right
hand side of your screen locate and delete any Sec.dbf and Sec.cdx
files. Delete the Settings.dbf, Settings.cdx & Settings.fpt
files from both the \PGWIN2 or the \PGWIN2\DBFS directory or folder.
Close out or
minimize Explorer. Click on Start then Programs, then ProGAGE1 V2,
then Reset User Count. On the Reset User Count Screen click on Reset.
This will delete any old *.tmp files and eliminate the Too Many
User’s Online message. You can now re-import your old records again
as outlined below.
